This Privacy Policy describes how Scouted ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by Scouted Global LLC, collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our iOS mobile application.

1. Data Collection

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information (display name, email, date of birth)
  • Profile Information (bio, photos, interests, travel plans)
  • Subscription Information (verification badge type, subscription status, purchase date)
  • Location Data (approximate location when using map and nearby features)
  • Usage Data (interactions, messages, likes, profile views)
  • Device Information (device type, iOS version, device identifiers)
  • Communication Data (in-app messages, notifications)
  • Authentication Data (from Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In)
  • Photo Library Access (for uploading profile and message photos)
  • Camera Access (for taking profile and message photos)
  • Biometric Data (Face ID for secure login, stored locally on device only)
  • Verification Review Data (professional information, social media links, portfolio links provided during verification review)

2. Collection Process

We collect information through:

  • Direct user input during registration and profile creation
  • iOS Location Services (only when app is in use)
  • Camera and Photo Library (with your permission)
  • Push notification tokens (for delivering notifications)
  • Third-party authentication services (Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In)
  • Supabase backend services (database and storage)
  • Mapbox mapping services (for location-based features)
  • Usage analytics within the app

3. iOS Permissions

The app requests the following iOS permissions:

  • Camera: To take photos for your profile and messages
  • Photo Library: To select photos from your device
  • Location (When In Use): To show nearby creators and map features
  • Face ID: For quick and secure biometric authentication
  • Notifications: To receive messages, likes, and other updates

You can manage these permissions in iOS Settings at any time. Denying permissions may limit certain app features.

4. Data Usage

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve our services
  • Show you nearby creators based on location
  • Enable messaging and social connections
  • Send push notifications for app activity
  • Process authentication through Apple or Google
  • Display your profile to other users
  • Process and manage verification subscriptions
  • Conduct manual verification reviews for badge authenticity
  • Display verification badges on your profile
  • Feature your profile in marketing materials (as permitted in Terms of Service)
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the app
  • Prevent fraud and abuse
  • Provide customer support

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: Backend database, authentication, and file storage
  • Backblaze B2: Cloud storage for photos, videos, and other media files
  • Apple App Store & StoreKit: In-app purchase processing and subscription management (Apple collects payment information independently - we do not have access to your credit card or payment details)
  • Google Sign-In: Optional authentication method
  • Apple Sign-In: Optional authentication method
  • Mapbox: Map display and location-based features
  • Sentry: Error tracking and crash reporting (collects device info, app state, and error details to help us fix bugs)
  • Singular: Attribution and analytics for marketing campaigns

These services have their own privacy policies and may collect data independently. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies.

6. Data Security

We implement security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Secure authentication through Apple and Google
  • Face ID biometric data stored only on your device
  • Regular security audits
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Secure cloud storage via Supabase

7. Data Sharing

We may share your information with:

  • Other users (according to your privacy settings and profile visibility)
  • Service providers (Supabase, Mapbox, authentication providers)
  • Legal authorities when required by law
  • Other parties with your explicit consent

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

8. Verification & Subscriptions

Payment Processing: All subscription payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card information, billing address, or other payment details. Apple handles all payment processing independently.

Subscription Data: We receive limited subscription information from Apple, including subscription status (active/expired), badge type purchased (Creator/Studio/Agency), and subscription start/end dates. This information is used solely to display your verification badge and manage your subscription status.

Verification Review: If you purchase a verification subscription, your profile information (including display name, bio, photos, and any social media or portfolio links you provide) will be manually reviewed by our team to verify your professional status matches your selected badge type.

Review Data: During the verification review process, we may collect and temporarily store additional information you voluntarily provide to support your verification request (such as links to your social media profiles, portfolio, or professional website). This data is used only for verification purposes and is not shared with third parties.

Badge Display: Your verification badge type is publicly visible on your profile and throughout the app to all users.

9. Location Data

We collect location data only when you use location-based features:

  • Map view to see creators in different areas
  • Nearby users feature
  • Travel plans feature

Location is only collected when the app is in use (foreground). We do not track your location in the background. You can disable location access in iOS Settings, though this will limit location-based features.

10. Data Subject Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request data deletion (via Account Settings)
  • Restrict data processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent
  • Object to processing

11. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. When you delete your account through the app, your data will be permanently removed from our servers, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Subscription Data: Subscription status and badge type information is retained for the duration of your active subscription and for a reasonable period after cancellation for billing, dispute resolution, and legal compliance purposes.

Marketing Content: If your profile or content has been featured in marketing materials prior to account deletion, we retain the right to continue using that content as outlined in our Terms of Service, even after account deletion.

12. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred and processed on servers located outside your country. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

13. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect or maintain information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will delete that information immediately.

14. California Privacy Rights

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

15. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of any material changes via push notification, email, or through the app. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
